See how the work really runs. Then automate it.
Process mining rebuilds how a process actually runs from the event logs your systems already keep, including the variants, rework and delays nobody documents. ETT, a UiPath Services Certified Partner, combines it with task mining and structured interviews on UiPath to give you a measured baseline and a ranked list of what to automate, fix or leave alone.
When process mining earns its place
Processes that run through core systems
ERP, CRM, finance or case management systems already record every step, and nobody is reading it.
Suspected errors nobody has measured
Overpayments, duplicates or missed charges that leadership suspects but cannot quantify.
Agents on the roadmap
You want AI agents in a process and need to know which variant to build for first.
A business case that has to survive finance
Interview estimates will not be enough for the people approving the spend.
What you would be buying
A measured picture of how your priority processes really run, from system event logs, desktop capture and interviews, with a ranked roadmap and a UiPath platform ready to build on.
What you receive
- Process mining findings pack: flows, variants, bottlenecks and conformance against the intended process
- Current-state maps (L1 to L3) for priority processes, with the decision and exception logic
- Error and rework baseline per process
- Register of pain points, risks and control observations
- Opportunity heat map ranked by value, feasibility and risk
- A governed UiPath Automation Cloud tenant, where licensing is in scope
- Business Process Workshop and a 12 to 24 month roadmap
What you provide
- Read-only access to event data from the systems in scope, or exports where there is no API
- Security and data-handling sign-off before anything connects
- Process owners for interviews, and nominated users for task capture
- Masking rules for personal or sensitive fields
How success is measured
- Share of real cases the mined model explains, per process
- Error, rework and cycle-time baseline agreed with the process owners
- Leadership can rank and fund the first builds without further discovery
Discovery measures the current state. The saving is realized by the build that follows, and is reported against this baseline.
What can hold it up
- Data access: usually the critical path, especially for third-party systems with no API agreement
- Process owners and nominated users being available for interviews and capture
- A decision-maker for the workshop at the end
After it goes live
The UiPath tenant stood up for discovery stays in place as the foundation for the first builds, so nothing is re-platformed.
Deliverables and measures describe the standard shape of this engagement. Exact scope, duration and commercial terms are agreed and confirmed in writing before work starts.
How we do the work
System-led process mining
UiPath Process Mining reads event data from the systems in scope and rebuilds each process end to end: every variant, every loop back, how long each step waits.
Task mining and capture
UiPath Task Mining and Task Capture record how people complete the steps that happen outside the core systems: the spreadsheets, the copy and paste, the emails. Only approved applications are recorded, and sensitive fields are masked.
People, not just data
Structured interviews with the people who run the process, reconciled against the mined view. This is also where we find the processes that should exist and do not.
A baseline you can invest against
Effort, volumes, error and rework rates, and cost per process. Where errors cost money directly, we put a number on them.
A platform ready to build on
The UiPath tenant we stand up for discovery becomes the foundation for the first builds, so nothing is re-platformed.
A decision at the end
Discovery closes with a Business Process Workshop to agree priorities, and a 12 to 24 month roadmap.
Where we have done this
Why this matters
Most process maps describe how work is supposed to run. The real process has variants, workarounds and exceptions that only show up in the data, and that is where the cost and the risk sit.
Point a robot or an AI agent at the documented version and you automate the gap between the map and reality. Exceptions multiply and the business case falls apart.
That is why process intelligence is now treated as the step before AI agents. Mining first tells you which variant to build for, and where an agent adds anything over a rules-based robot.
Security and data-handling sign-off comes before anything connects. We do not connect first and ask later.
Process Mining and DiscoveryProcess mining, task mining or a workshop?
Process mining uses the event logs business systems record (who did what, to which case, when) to rebuild how a process actually runs. It is increasingly called process intelligence: Gartner renamed its Process Mining Magic Quadrant to Process Intelligence Platforms in May 2026 and describes these tools as the operational context for deciding where AI agents should go.
Task mining records what nominated people do on their desktops, so it shows how individual steps are done, including work in spreadsheets and email that never reaches a system log.
A Business Process Workshop works from interviews, observation and documents. It is the fastest, cheapest first view of a function, and needs no system access.
Works from system event logs. Shows every variant, wait and loop at volume. Needs read access or exports.
Works from the desktop activity of nominated users. Shows how each step is actually done. Needs consent and masking rules.
Delivered on UiPath
ETT Group of Companies Inc. is a UiPath Authorized Partner and a UiPath Services Certified Partner, and resells UiPath licenses. Our delivery team holds UiPath technical certifications.
We deliver process mining on UiPath because the same platform then runs the automation, so the evidence and the build live in one place. If you already run another process intelligence platform, we can work from its output.
The relationship behind each technology (formal partnership, authorised resale, or a platform we deploy) is stated on its technology ecosystem entry.
How a typical twelve-week discovery runs
Access and data
Weeks one to three. Security sign-off, read-only connections or extracts, data quality checks, platform stood up. Many third-party systems have no API agreement, so we plan for exports from week one.
Mine and capture
Weeks two to eight. Event-log analysis per process, task capture with nominated users, and interviews from leadership down to the people doing the work.
Synthesis
Weeks six to ten. One validated picture per process, reconciled between the data and the people.
Workshop and roadmap
Weeks ten to twelve. Findings challenged, priorities agreed, roadmap and documentation issued.
Build
The first priority process moves straight into a build on the same UiPath platform.
Often delivered alongside
Timing, cost, access and ownership
How long does this take?
A typical discovery runs about 12 weeks across three processes. Agreeing data access is usually the longest single step, so we start it in week one and run interviews while it is arranged.
What drives the cost?
The number of processes and systems in scope, how the event data can be reached (live connection or exports), and the UiPath licensing the discovery needs, which is quoted as its own line, separate from our fee.
What access do you need?
Read-only access to event data from the systems in scope, or exports where there is no API; nominated users for task capture; and time with the process owners. Nothing connects before your security and data-handling sign-off.
Who owns the platform and the findings?
Ownership of the solution, its configuration and the documentation is set out in the engagement contract before work starts. Where a third-party platform forms part of the solution, that platform's own licensing terms apply to it, and we identify which components those are rather than leaving the boundary vague.
What happens next?
A conversation about the specific process or decision you have in mind. If there is a workable opportunity we will describe a scoped first engagement; if there is not, we will say so and explain why. Requesting a session does not commit you to anything.
About this service
What is process mining?
Process mining uses the event logs business systems record (who did what, to which case, when) to rebuild how a process actually runs. It shows every variant, where work waits, and where it loops back for rework. It is increasingly called process intelligence.
What is the difference between process mining and task mining?
Process mining works from system data and shows the end-to-end flow across many cases. Task mining records what people do on their desktops, so it shows how individual steps are done, including work in spreadsheets and email that never reaches a system log. Together they cover both.
Do we need process mining before automating with AI agents?
For any process that runs through your core systems with real volume or risk, yes. An agent pointed at an undocumented process automates its exceptions. Mining first tells you which variant to build for, and where an agent adds anything over a rules-based robot.
What data does process mining need?
An event log per process: a case ID, an activity name and a timestamp for each step, usually with the user and a few attributes. Most ERP, CRM, finance and case management systems hold this. Where there is no API, exports work.
Can the data stay in Canada?
UiPath Automation Cloud can host your tenant in its Canada region, and Process Mining runs there. Depending on the model, generative AI calls from a Canadian tenant may be processed in the US; UiPath does not store the data there. UiPath's AI Trust Layer lets you restrict which regions model calls can go to, and some models run inside the Canada region. We choose models and settings to fit your residency rules, and check them again at go-live.
Is task mining surveillance?
It should not be, and we set it up so it is not. It records only the applications you approve, for users who have agreed to take part, with sensitive fields masked. We agree the rules with your HR, privacy and security leads before anything is installed.
Which process do you suspect is costing more than it should?
Tell us the process and the systems it runs through. We will tell you whether mining would show you anything a workshop would not.
Around four minutes. Indicative guidance based on your answers.
